Itinerary 8 days Morocco Route of a Thousand Kasbahs

This 8 days  tour from Marrakech via the route of thousand kasbahs and the great waterfalls, will alow you to live unforgettable experienceby travelling along Tizi N Tichka pass through the view of the Hight Atlas Mountains, in the route you will realize that Morocco is a country of contrasts.Then you wil have chance to visit the Ksar Ait Ben Haddou a true heritage wich is part of the UNESCO World Heritage, discover the Hollywood of Morocco in Ouarzazate. In afternoon we will follow the Road of 1000 Kasbahs to the most beautiful valleys of great South of Morocco: the Valley of Roses and spend night in a charming Hotel, the next day we will visit the wonderful Todgha Gorge, then trek into the Desert spending the night under the stars camping in the Sahara, we will discover the region of Sahara Desert visit the Gnaoua people, originally slaves from Mali localed in a small town Khamlia, and visit local Nomad famillie to live the nomad's lifestyle, visit the old village of M´IFIS build by the franch military, and is very famous with mines, minerals fosils, as now just Moroccan military live there because its the closest point to the Algerian border. The next day we continue our journey by the road of the Sultan towards the imperial city Fes but we will visit the oasis of Ziz Valley remarkable for the extent of its palm trees, then we cross the Middle Atlas, and finally in afternoon we will arrive at Fes, and you have explore this amazing city and old one in Moroco and North Africa. Next day we drive through the Middle Atlas to the great Waterfalls of Ouzoud, and water is impressive and the sky has almost rainbow. Our tour end in Marrakech. 


Day 1 : Arrival at Marrakech

This day you can explore the city by the guide will meet you at your hotel and give you a half day tour to discover Marrakesh which is known as the Red City; You will stop at the:

 

The Koutoubia Mosque, which is an old monument built under the reign of the Almohad Caliph Yaqub al-Mansur (1184 to 1199). This monument inspired other buildings such as the Giralda in Seville in Spain and the Hassan Tower in Rabat.

The Bahia Palace. This Palace was built in the late 19th century and was intended to capture the essence of the Islamic and Moroccan style. 

Madrasa Ben Youssef, this Coranic school is named after the Almoravid Sultan Ali Ibn Yusuf (reigned 1106–1142). Madrasa Ben Youssef is the largest in all of Morocco. 

The Saadian tombs, which is a site that dates back to the time of the Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur (1578-1603). The tombs were discovered in 1917 and were restored by the Beaux-arts service. In aftrenoon you can have your own time to explore the famous Jema El Fna Square where you will enjoy amazing performance of traditional activity by story tellers, snake charmers, peddler soft raditional medicines and themarkets. Night in Marrakech. 

Day 2: Marrakech - High Atlas - Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah -  Ouarzazate - Dadés Valley

 

After Breakfast we drive through the dramatic Tizi n Tichka, over the Hight Atlas Mountains, this roads will show you fantastic veiw and lead you through Berber village, and the landscaps change as the all city of Morocco. After many stop to enjoy this veiws, we drive through the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, this is a beautiful example of southern Moroccan architecture, now is a parte of UNESCO and has been filmed many movie in this kasbahs. After lunch we continue to Dades Valley via Ouarzazate, the  ´Hollywood of Africa´, if you like you can visit the Atlas Studio.  The road we take is a Road of the thousand Kasbahs, as you can see many kasbahs and Ksar in Morocco, until we arrived to the famous Valley of Roses, home of the fragrant damascus rose that is cultivated here and processed into the world famous rose oil , we can stop in a coorperarive to see how the women do this fantasic work. Then we continue to our hotel in Dades Valley.

Day 3: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

 

After breakfast we drive to Todra Gorges via the view panoramic of Valley of Dades, here the contrasting landscapes remind visitors of the Colorado, with its high plateau , until we arrived to this amazing great Canyons. The narrow valley is lines with palmery and up on the rocks you may see the nomad famillies tending sheep and goats. This great canynos its peaks sometimes splintered by erosion, and ths area is populated by Berbers, when you can have some time to walk by yoursefl and interact with the local people. Afterwards we travel further into the desert to the tiny village of Merzouga, then take camel ride to a berber camp when you will see one of the most beautiful sunset and thousands of stars in the sky. Spend the night in a camp.

Day 4: Merzouga - Khamlia - Nomade Families – Merzouga

 

Before the sunrise, you can wake up to see the sunrise, then you will have breakfast and shower in the camp. After this we get on the roed to discover the region of Merzouga. We start from  Khamlia village originally from Subsaharien when we get the opportunity to listen to their Gnawa music and learn about them culture and lifestyle, then we visit a nomad familly who live in tents around the Erg Chebbi Dunes and you can see them life is very simple and they are very happy and open poeples, as its hard way of living begin away from facilities . We would love to show you this way of life, even experience it by drink some tea with them. Our journey continue to the old village of M´IFIS build by the french military, and is very famous with mines, minerals fosils, as now just Moroccan military live there because its the closest point to the Algerian border. After this we bring you to your accommodation, and in aftrenoon you can explore the town or the dunes next to your hotel to see the sunset. Night in a hotel. 

Day 5: Merzouga - Erfoud - Ziz Valley - Azrou - Fès

 

After breakfast we will drive  to Erfoud, where we stop to see how the local found fossils are worked into furniture and artfacts. After that we drive through Middle Atlas by passing Ziz Valley stoping in this view paronamic of palm tres. Then we continue cross the pass of TIZI N TALGHAMT to reach Midelt, wich is called ``the Apple capital``. After lunch we head to Azrou to see the monkies in the cedar forest, the next stop is Ifran the little Switzerland and means caves . Ifran know too as well by the Brotherhood private university, established since 1998 by the king of Morocco and king of Arabia Saudi. Then drive to Fes to get to your accommodations.

Day 6 : City tour of Fes 

 

After breakfast in the hotel we star our city tour of Fes, is a old city of Morocco, and surely enjoy the walk through its alleys and small streets that are lined up with little stores that sell fresh fruits,spices, woven Berber carpets. This medina is very large, its about 3 km, and  its the larget Islamic medina in North Africa, and dates back to the 9th century. We will visit the famous Al Qaraouiyine University, and is a world´s oldest university, the Place Nejjarine and the Tenneries, you can watch the locals work, wich is used to color animal skins like goat, lamp, camel and cow, be warned that the smell is strong. After that will visit the Bou Inania Madresa is one of most beautufil architecture theological collges in Fes. Night in Fes. 

Day 7:  Fez - Ouzoud - Marrakech

 

After breakfast we drive to Waterfalls of Ouzoud via the Middle Atlas, we will enjoy the landscaps and panoramic view of berber village, and we make some stop for picturs. Then we coninue our journye to Ouzoud, that are localed at the great Atlas Mountains, and they are the most beautiful in North Africa. The view from the top is great, the water falls down dorm about 100 meters. This site is very popular with Moroccans. These falls are must see, and water is impressive and te sky has almost a permanent rainbow. After this we drive to Marrakech and drop you at your hotel. 

 

Day 8: Airport Transfer

After breakfast in your hotel, you can have a free time by yourself to go shopping and visit the Jardin Majorelle, a beautiful gadren created by the French artist Jacques Majorelle, and then we will bring you to the Aireport for your onward flight.
