Itinerary 4 days Northern and Sahara Desert 


Day 1: Tanger - Chafchaouen - Fes

Upon arrival in Tangier the driver will pick you from the ferry terminal and take you through the Rif Mountains and we drive until we arrive to the small town called Chefchaouen. This town is probably the most beautiful mountain town of Morocco.  All buildings and houses are painted in blue and white and it’s build in a Spanish style. This town is very relaxed with small winding alleyways and market squares, scarfs stores. It is captivating to walk through the old town grasping the different colors. After our visit to Chafchaouen we’ll continue to Fès.  This city is built in 809. Here you can find the Karaouine university.Overnight stay at the Riad/Hotel.

Day 2: Fes - Ifran - Midelt

After breakfast we will explore the oldest City of Morocco and surely enjoy the walk through its alleys and small streets. south west wall of the medieval Medina is a beautiful looking entry, the Bab Bou Jeloud. It gives excess to narrow streets that are lined up with little stores that sell fresh fruits, spices, woven Berber carpets etc.  This medina is very large, it is about 3 km. And therefore one of the largest medina´s Islamic in Africa. We will visit the famous Al Qaraouiyine University, the oldest in the region, the edina os Fes and the place Nejjarine and the Tanneries. At the tanneries you can watch locals work on skins of goat, lamp, camel and cow, in small clay pits. After your delicious lunch we will drive to Midelt and meet different colors of the kingdom by leaving the old Moroccan city of Fes. We drive south to Ifrane and Azrou through the Middle Atlas Mountains. On the way we will stop at the Ifrane means caves and it is nicknamed in Morocco as a little Switzerland since it is a very green town and is a ski resort in the Middle Atlas region of Morocco because of its high altitude at 1665 meters. Ifrane is very known as well by The Brotherhood private university, established in 1997 by The king of Morocco Hassan II and the king of Saudi Arabia Fahd. Where all classes are taught in English, it is an international university. After that you will head toward Azrou to see the monkies in the cedar forest. Continuing to Midelt is called “the apple capital” .Overnight stay at the Riad/Hotel.

 

Day 3: Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga (HOTEL AT DUNE LINE)

After breakfast in hotel we will diver to Sahara Desert by crossing the pass of TIZI N TALGHAMT to reach Errachidia while admiring the views of Ziz valley, later on, you will have a stop for a panoramic view of Ziz valley. The drive continues to Erg Chebbi Dunes passing by Aoufous and Erfoud (the last is famous with fossils and dates) where you may want to visit a local fossil craft workshop. After that you Will continue to the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi, these dunes are called also Merzouga Dunes. Arrive to the hotel then a glass of mint tea, you will leave the luggage in a safe room and then take a camel ride to a Berber camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi Sand Dunes.You will see one of the most beautiful sunsets in your lifetime and after that you'll see thousands of stars in the sky. You will spend the night in a camp (Berber nomad tents) where you have dinner and life music in the middle of the Sahara.

Day 4 : Merzouga - Errisani - Ziz Valley - Fes 

After breakfast we will drive to Errisani. This silent town was the ancient capital of Tafilalet and its location as a crossroads between north and south brought the city to an important status of a former major caravan center. Up to now Rissani remains a major commercial center in the region, with a large souk, particularly lively today on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sunday. It was noted for its leather and goat skin trading in ancient ages. After that we will drive back to Fes.
